confidential financial Fairpoint testimony to the Maine PUC

The following link is an article in The Portland Phoenix by Jeff Inglis. On the page there is a link to the full-length redacted (confidential and super confidential) Fairpoint testimony to the Maine PUC. If you open the link and scroll down you will see blacked out confidential testimony. If you high-light it, copy it and paste it to a text document like Word. The black-out will go away and you can see the confidential testimony by Fairpoint executives to the Maine PUC...not a pretty picture... http://thephoenix.com/article_ektid51485.aspx

The Maine PUC will make a decision on the sale of Verizon to Fairpoint, very soon (DEC 2007 or early JAN 2008). If you think Fairpoint is not the right company for our state. It is important to express your opinion to the MPUC. Time is short, NOW is the time to call and write your representives and the MPUC. I think the information disclosed in the link above, show they are not ready or able to serve the State of Maine the way we need to be served. We need a company with the resourses and technologies to provide a 21 century communications platform...THINK ABOUT IT...

heres another link with the same info different flavor...

Not hard to predict that the union staff would recommend against the sale, let's hope the commissioners step up to the plate.

EXAMINER’S REPORT 1 Docket No. 200767 November 26,2007
I. SUMMARY
In this Report, the Examiners recommend that the Commission reject the Joint
Applicants’ 1 Petition for Approval. We find that, taken as a whole, the proposed
Transaction subjects both ratepayers and shareholders to substantial risks and harms
that are not outweighed by any of the potential benefits of the Transaction. We also
recommend that the Commission specifically find that Verizon Maine has failed to meet
its burden under 35A
M.R.S.A.§ 1104.

Like I said....

And I'm glad you can show your intellectual style of debate by continuing with the name calling Nascar88.

Probably see the same thing from the Democratic appointees as well, the states largest employer (the State of Maine) elects those that practice solidarity....

Do you deny the fact that the PUC staff that made the recommendation to the commisioners are union employees? Where is the fluff in that statement? (Please note that I still have not had to resort to name calling to continue an arguement.)

Kennebec...

Is it hard to predict that the Maine PUC staff, the NH PUC staff, the Maine OCA, the NH OCA, the Vermont OCA, Speakers of the house from all three states, and numerous PHd's in accounting (Randy Barber, Rand Wilson, etc) would pan this deal? and lets remember, their not just kind of panning it.. It is getting flushed with a capital F....

Kennebec,

that's where you're going with this? that the staff employees are Union? wow... thats low... the funny thing is they hired experts with no connection to either unions or the PUC to do all the dirty work. They then took what they came up with and formed their opinions.. you can't bury the facts, no matter how much you want to twist it.

I'm just a person that believes in a free market economy instead of increased regulation. I still have hopes that the actual commissioners that will make the decision on the sale will do the right thing and allow Verizon to sell their holdings that they no longer wish to hold.

I remember about five or six years ago the Dept. of Health and Human Services staff wrote to deny Southern Maine Medical Center and Maine Medical Center a Certificate of Need for a Cancer Care center in York county (primarily because of the defeat of the union organization efforts at MMC as I heard from inside friends). Fortunately the commissioner saw the benefit to the cancer patients and approved the Certificate of Need and many lives have been saved because of that decision. While Nascar88's kids and their on-line gaming and TV viewing may not fall in the same venue, I still have a glimmer of hope that my letters to the PUC may make a difference and free market forces instead of regulation will reign supreme.
