Battered men's shelter in maine

O.K. the following story is old but it should spark debate in a state that has no battered mens shelter.

Leader of Shelter For Battered Men Under Investigation For Fraud
Refuge boss in fraud allegation
Nov 18 2004
By Louise Redvers, The Evening Chronicle
A man claiming to have set up the first refuge for male domestic violence has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Mike Kenny has been questioned by police on suspicion of attempting to obtain property and services by deception.
The 34-year-old set up It Does Happen to support male victims of domestic violence after personal experiences of abuse.
He has toured the country talking about his abuse and been interviewed on several national television and radio programmes.
Last week he said he opened a 31-bed refuge for battered men in Newcastle and claimed to have taken in 28 men on the first night.
He described the centre as hotel-standard with a relaxed counselling room with comfortable chairs and carpet, and a children's room complete with oversized teddy bear.
Pictures of the premises were circulated last week but no-one was allowed to visit the site itself because Mr Kenny said the location had to be kept secret to protect the men staying there.
It is not known if a refuge was ever set up.
He said It Does Happen had received nearly 400,000 calls in its first two months of operation, a significant number of these from men in the North East. And that he planned to open a second refuge in County Durham before Christmas.
Newcastle Victim Support said they were due to meet Mr Kenny later this month to talk about his work.
But yesterday Mr Kenny, from Ferryhill, County Durham, was arrested and taken to Darlington Police Station for questioning before being released the following day on bail.
Det Sgt Dave Wilkes, of Durham Police, who is leading the case, said: "We are conducting inquiries into Mr Kenny but we cannot say anything more, this is a delicate situation."
We contacted Mr Kenny who strenuously denied the allegations but said he need to consult his legal team before making any further response.
The Charity Commission said they had not received an application from It Does Happen to become a registered charity but had been told by Mr Kenny he was in the process of applying.
A spokeswoman said: "We are aware Mr Kenny has been arrested and bailed by Durham Police. We will await a decision by the police over what action to take and this will inform our future course of action."
A Durham Police spokesman said: "A 34-year-old County Durham man was arrested on Tuesday by detectives on suspicion of attempting to obtain property and services by deception. He was released on Wednesday on police bail pending further inquiries."

Simple, women and men are different. I wouldn't hit a woman, but have hit a few men. Laughing

So men should be bludgeoned to death by their G/f's and have their kids taken away. Unlike women who have a place to run and a quick welfare check. HOW SEXIST.

Nevada has one, as dose Florida (near Orlando).
