the 4 ads at the top of this WVOM forum.

About the 4 ads that appear on each page of this WVOM website(they have the blue headlines). The subjects of the ads are not as random as one might think, but based on subjects that are being discussed in the fourm.

For instance, today Fairfield was discussed in the forum, now there are ads for fairfield homes for sale.

The ads are also based on websites web surfers had visIted just before coming to WVOM. Ford Mustang is one of the ads, therefore someone was either discussing ford mustangs in the forum or just before going to the WVOM forum.

Advertising, like most areas of life, is becoming much more sophisticated. There is increasing (as Empire refers to) personalization and segmentation, so that not just collectively (such as in his referenced ads above) but individually advertisers can target us based upon our buying and browsing patterns as two examples (and also demographics). Personalized pages at Amazon.com and new personalized Google home page and various services at Yahoo reflect

In Maine if I was Governor using such technologies Maine's informational services would become much more personalized (business intelligence software, CRM and others can be utilized). When you need help from an agency it has more information on hand targeted to your needs based upon your past contacts etc (filtering software and decision trees also exist in many systems, even voicemail where you get routed to information based upon your responses but we won't take out the humans)

Alot of my ideas revolve around working smarter in addition to, as Mainers always have, working hard. You can even get smarter (it won't hurt) reading our explanations of this at our site across articles.
