Maine CFL Survey

Are you a Maine resident &
do you use Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs)?
If yes, please participate in an anonymous online survey developed by University of Southern Maine’s Department of Environmental Science. This brief (7-8 minute) on-line survey will help us understand how the needs of your community can be served better.

Same here...

Is there a recycle program for the bulbs in Maine? I've never heard of one.

Nor I.

The garbage truck comes by once a week.

More than that I do not know.

I do not see where any form of recycling is happening in my township. There is no program to seperate glass, metal, plastic, not like in previous areas where we have lived.

Just one truck comes through here and it is all taken to a landfill.

CFLs

You can't throw the CFLs away in the regular trash because there is mercury in them and it will do massive damage to the water supplies after running off the landfill. I think there is a recycling program but I will have to find it. None of mine have died yet so I don't remember. alien

Does the mercury exists in those long florescent tube lights? I've been tossing those out in the trash for years.
