by "actual personnel" I'm guessing you mean human beings? You're probably right.

Yes.. real humans. What a concept to have people doing some of the work instead of trying to automate everything.

Actually, WVOM is a pretty good station compared to the many stations in Maine. Have you ever listened to NPR? What about the stations that bill temselves as community minded and have air people who have little or no experience in broadcasting.

Overall I think WVOM does a good job especially on the George Hale/Ric Tyler Morning Show. They don;t screen the incoming calls like they do on nearly all the other call-in shows like Howie Carr.

So, I guess what I'm asking here is; just how does vom suck?

Whenever Fox (NYC based) takes over a radio station, they insist on more off-color talk, more loud music and more noise to distract the people.

Eventually, they try to reduce or control the number and type of calls into the station.

The same thing happened to the Ray and Ted show on WLOB.

The puppet-masters distract the people with nonsense.

One favorite technique is the 'humorous' crime story.

Rock music plays the same role in our culture - to distract and mesmerize the people.

If anyone tries to discuss the real problem with America, the hosts label him or her 'a conspiracy theorist' and quickly hang up.

We have to realize that the role of the media in America is to spread misinformation and keep the people in the dark.

If anyone speaks the truth, they are off the show.

If you speak in public, you are out of a job.

So much for our 'free' country.

Get a shortwave, or listen online to Patriot radio.

Everything you said, Leonard, has occured at nearly every radio station that I have ever been associated with. With my personal experience behind the scenes in radio, I can tell you hat Ric Tyler at WVOM constantly walks a tight rope. One can tell that Ric attempts to go all the way, but he holds himself back; and this was quite evident with his interview with Susan Collins when he had her on the phone but just couldn't muster up the cahoohnas to ask her why she did what she did with the 'stimulus" thing.

Also, I do not believe that FOX has any substansial input into how WVOM does their broadcast day. WVOM pays plenty for what FOX does. WVOM is a good customer of FOX just as WVOM is a good customer of the Eush Limbaugh EIB Network.

What I am wondering is why do we have Howie Carr taking up prime time afternoon drive talking about the babes in Boston? cheese

I dont get why we have all that talk about Mass polotics and Boston happenings either.

I live in Maine, I tune to a 'local' radio station and I hear junk about the 'local' stuff in another state.

What do I care if their mayor mumbles?

I dont live in Boston, I dont live in Mass.

Right. And, I even called WVOM a couple of times asking them to remove Howie Carr and replace it with local Maine stuff and especially now that they are simo-casting with WVQM in Augusta. It just seems to me that it's gonna take local people to march in the WVOM offices and demand to see their FCC License. I know this is taking it to another level and I am not personally going to do it.

If I lived in Bangor my mate, a war monger would most likely be a candidate to do that, but such an involvement. They don't even read these message boards here; at least it seems like they don't.

If they are reading...I don't mean it...sorry..don't hold it against me please. Cool
