Religion ...

One year, my small town had a week when when members of the different churches were supposed to visit in other denominations.

To cap the week, churches traded preachers on Sunday so they'd hear the opposition, so to speak.

It was all lovey-dovey and there were hugs and handshakes all around.

Then the week was over and the people in my parents' church started talking about how wrong those other denominations were.

Such a shame, nice people like that going to hell. (To be fair, my parents did not join in this condemnation).

My friends, who went to those assorted churches, told me that they were saying the same thing about my parents' Baptist faith.

That taught me a few things ....
One is that there is a lot of hypocrisy in the "love" christians feel for one another.

Two, it taught me that even if one denomination is right about all the others, it is all a race.

Put your money on the right horse and you're rich.

Chose the wrong one and burn.

Three, it showed that those who are supposed to "judge not" were outrageously judgmental.
Personally, I thought it was a bit much to condemn someone to eternal torment because they sprinkled rather than immersed, or vice versa.

I've heard the same argument among people of one denomination over whether communion was to be done using washable plastic cups or disposable, with each quoting the bible and sending the other church to hell.

I admit I've never made a serious effort to read the bible, but I doubt the words "plastic" or "disposable" appear often. Even if they did, I would consider this petty.

Sometimes, christians are the best argument against religion.

Exodus Decoded

I just saw the most unbelievable documentary I've ever seen on the History Channel.

This tv program, called "The Exodus Decoded", historically and scientifically documented the events of Exodus in the Holy Bible as fact, not fiction.

It included several accounts of geological proof of the time and location of the story of Moses and his quest to escape the grasp of the Pharaoh with God's people, the modern day Israelites.

It also goes to say that Science does not always contradict God, but only proves the presence of God.

This can be seen in the documentary when the plagues and miracles are described as God manipulating nature, not suspending it.

I actually found the entire documentary on google video and posted it in the link below.

I highly recommend watching it.
