I ran this story by a former Mass. prosecutor who said they would not have dropped the charge of manslaughter. Perhaps the Maine prosecutors are incompetent.lazy, and/or they do not want to spend state money in prosecuting the scumbag in a series of court sessions.

I'm leaning towards a little of both.

..What followed was a "free-for-all," with the younger and powerfully built Dusty Pinkham quickly gaining the upper hand....at one point the 47 years old Beane said "I am done," apparently trying to end the fight,
But 19 year old Dusty Pinkham, who is 6-foot-1 and weighs about 215 pounds, according to court documents, continued to hit Beane until the older man fell and struck his head on the sidewalk or street. .Pinkham, 19, was sentenced Wednesday to serve 21/2 years in the state prison for the beating death of Blaine Beane, 47

......2 1/2 years later...

IN ANSON, Thursday at 12:10 a.m., Dusty Pinkham, 22, of Moscow, arrested in North Anson on charges of burglary, assault, criminal speed and failure to stop for a police officer

from what i learned about maine's judicial system is the state
does not like to charge criminals with murder. it costs the state
of maine over $1,000,000 to prosecute individual murder cases

maine courts prefer defendents to plea bargin to lesser
charges including pinkham who was found guilty of an
"aggravated assault " charge

"aggravated assault "!

47yo Bean had 2 children who have to grow up without a father
